Fistball's 5v5 format with a three-touch limit and one bounce allowed per side creates tactical patterns unlike any other net sport. CourtDraw's fistball board helps coaches design attack combinations, diagram serve-and-receive positioning, and show defensive coverage responsibilities for both the deep and front-court zones.

Fistball is played with a closed fist or forearm on a rectangular court divided by a net. Each team gets up to three contacts before the ball must cross the net, and one bounce per contact is allowed. The three-contact pattern โ typically receive, set, attack โ parallels volleyball but the bounce option creates additional strategic depth: a controlled bounce can reset a difficult receive and allow a higher-quality set and attack sequence.
Five players on the court means attack assignments must be clearly defined. The standard attack formation uses one player as the primary hitter positioned just behind the net to attack high sets, with two secondary attackers available from deeper positions. Diagram:
The serve in fistball is a jump or standing punch aimed to make accurate receive difficult. Show target zones:
The receive formation โ typically two deep players and two mid-court players with one near the net โ should be diagrammed showing which player calls for the ball and which back player provides secondary support.
With five players defending, coverage is primarily man-zone: each player covers an assigned zone but can assist the adjacent player's zone when the ball is clearly heading there. Diagram the coverage responsibility for each position, the communication protocol between the front-court players and the deep players, and the specific defensive positioning adjustments required when the opponent has a strong cross-court attack.
