The Problem With Whiteboard Photos in the Group Chat

Every coach has done it: draw the play on a physical whiteboard, snap a phone photo at an angle, and send it to the team WhatsApp group. It works — barely. The glare washes out half the arrows, the marker is smudged from last week's session, and if you need to tweak the play five minutes before kickoff, you're erasing and re-photographing the whole thing. There's also no version to go back to once the board gets wiped for the next session.

A digital tactics board fixes all of this: the image is crisp every time, the play is saved so you can reuse or adjust it next week, and getting it in front of the team takes about as long as sending any other photo.

Method 1 — One-Tap Share (Mobile, Fastest)

This is the quickest path and works entirely from your phone's browser — no app install required, for you or anyone receiving it.

1. Draw the play. Open CourtDraw, pick your sport's court, place your players, and draw the arrows, zones, or runs you need.
2. Tap Export. This renders the board as a high-resolution PNG image.
3. Tap the share banner. On mobile, a share prompt appears right after export. Tapping it opens your phone's native share sheet with the image already attached — this uses the same share sheet as sharing any photo from your camera roll.
4. Choose WhatsApp. Pick the team group or an individual player, and send. The image arrives at full resolution.

This works the same way on iPhone (Safari) and Android (Chrome) — it's the browser's built-in share feature, not something specific to CourtDraw.

Method 2 — Export and Attach Manually (Any Device)

If you're on a laptop, iPad without the share prompt, or just prefer to control exactly where the file goes, export still works the traditional way:

• Tap Export to save the PNG to your device (Downloads folder on desktop, Photos on mobile).
• Open WhatsApp — desktop app, WhatsApp Web, or the mobile app.
• Attach the image the way you'd attach any photo, and send.

Free-plan exports carry a small "courtdraw.app" watermark in the corner. Pro and Club exports are clean.

Method 3 — Share a Live Board Link (Pro)

Pro and Club plans can generate a shareable link instead of an image. Anyone with the link opens the exact tactic in their own browser — they can zoom in, and if you're mid-session and want to talk through the play interactively rather than send a static picture, this is the better option. Paste the link into WhatsApp like any URL; it unfurls with a preview automatically.

The trade-off: a link only shows the board as it was at the moment you generated it. If you need players to see later edits, re-share the link or export a fresh PNG — it isn't a live-updating view.

Tips for Clear WhatsApp Tactics Images

• Keep it to one idea per image. A board crammed with every phase of a session is harder to read on a 6-inch phone screen than three focused images sent one after another.
• Use color deliberately. Two team colors plus one accent color for the ball or run reads far more clearly on a compressed WhatsApp image than five different shades.
• Send it early enough to matter. A tactic shared 30 minutes before a match gives players time to actually look at it, not just glance and pocket their phone.
