Racquetball's four walls make tactical instruction uniquely complex โ shots change direction twice before landing, and verbal description of a pinch-to-back-wall pattern leaves players guessing. CourtDraw's racquetball board lets you diagram wall interactions, show the ideal landing zones for kill shots and ceiling balls, and map the center-court position that controls every rally.

The center court position in racquetball โ roughly five feet behind the short line in the middle of the court โ is the tactical equivalent of squash's T-position. From here, a player can reach any corner of the court in the fewest possible steps. Every shot should either be hit from center court or force the opponent out of center court so you can occupy it. Draw this zone on CourtDraw and it immediately clarifies why players should return there after every exchange.
The kill shot โ aimed at the front wall as low as possible so it barely rebounds and dies before the opponent can retrieve it โ is racquetball's most decisive weapon:
For each, diagram the contact point, the wall target (including the specific height), and the expected rebound path.
The ceiling ball is racquetball's defensive reset โ hit high onto the ceiling so it bounces off the front wall and dies deep in the back court, forcing the opponent away from center court. Diagram the ceiling contact point (just past the front wall), the arc, and the intended landing zone in the back corners. Show how a ceiling ball aimed at the backhand corner creates a left-to-right footwork obligation for the opponent.
Two advanced shots create unexpected rebound patterns:
These shots are most effective as passing shots when an opponent is camped at center court. Diagram the wall contact sequence and the final landing zone so players understand the geometry before attempting them in a game.
