Futsal is the chess board of football — every pass, rotation, and pressing trigger is calculated on a compressed court where mistakes are immediately punished. CourtDraw provides both the standard futsal court (5v5) and the futsal mini / 5-a-side court (4v4), so you can diagram the rotation systems, pivot combinations, and power-play sets that define modern futsal coaching.
This page covers the Futsal Court (5v5) and the Futsal Mini / 5-a-side (4v4). All court variants are available in the app with a single tap.

Futsal's attacking structure is built around continuous rotation. The standard 1-2-1 formation places one fixo (defender), two alas (wingers), and one pivô (centre forward). But the tactical power is in the rotation: as the ball moves, each player shifts into a new role fluidly. Draw the 1-2-1 rotation as a sequential animation: ball to the right ala → ala passes to the pivô → pivô lays off to the arriving left ala → left ala shoots or returns to fixo. Show each player's movement path as the ball progresses.
The pivô is futsal's most influential position — a physically strong, technically precise player who operates with their back to goal. Key pivô plays to diagram:
Because the court is small and the ball stays live off the boards, pressing in futsal is extremely effective. Three main pressing shapes:
One of futsal's most dramatic tactical situations is the power play — when a team trailing by one goal pulls the goalkeeper to field five outfield players. Diagram the resulting 5v4 formation: where the "false goalkeeper" positions, how the five outfield players create an extra passing option in the final third, and the defensive transition responsibilities if possession is lost.
The 4v4 format on a smaller court amplifies every principle: rotations happen faster, the pivô has even less space to operate, and pressing yields turnover opportunities within seconds. Diagram the 1-1-1 rotation triangle for 4-player futsal and the specific positioning for set pieces (kick-ins, corner kicks, free kicks) that differ from the full futsal rules.
